023 – Emerald Ember Micromussa
Scientific Name: Micromussa
Type: LPS Coral

Overview

This WYSIWYG frag of Emerald Ember Micromussa features a dense, dome-shaped polyp structure with rich forest green and deep crimson pigmentation throughout. The surface is tightly packed with inflated polyps, each showing high contrast under blue spectrum lighting. Subtle undertones of violet and gold can be seen around the mouths, giving this frag layered detail and a high-end collector's look.

Micromussa is a hardy, compact-growing coral known for its intense color saturation and ease of care. Ideal for nano tanks or the front section of larger reef aquascapes, this coral offers both texture and color in tight spaces.

Care Requirements

Lighting:
Moderate (PAR 80–150). Color will hold well in both lower and higher PAR environments, but avoid blasting with high-intensity lighting to preserve pigmentation and tissue health.

Water Flow:
Low to moderate. Gentle indirect flow allows the polyps to expand fully without irritation. Avoid direct streams that can cause tissue recession.

Placement:
Low to mid-level. Can be placed on flat rock or ledges. This coral thrives when given time to encrust and will grow outward with even spacing between heads.

Feeding:
Photosynthetic, but benefits greatly from target feeding. Accepts reef roids, coral blends, and finely chopped meaty foods. Feeding 2x per week will increase polyp size and support vibrant coloration.

Aggression Level:
Moderate. Micromussa can release short sweeper tentacles and prefers a few inches of space from nearby LPS or soft corals.

Growth Rate:
Moderate. Grows in tightly packed clusters, especially when fed regularly and kept in stable conditions.

Difficulty:
Easy to moderate. A great addition for hobbyists of any experience level, especially those interested in fleshy, eye-catching LPS.

Additional Notes

This frag is fully healed, encrusted on a ceramic plug, and already showing strong inflation and feeding response. Its compact size and vibrant color make it a strong candidate for nano tanks, accent islands, or as part of a focused LPS grow-out zone.

Emerald Ember prefers low fluctuations in alkalinity and salinity and will thrive with weekly spot feeding and gentle handling.
