013 β Tangerine Juice Leptoseris
Scientific Name: Leptoseris spp.
Type: LPS Coral (Encrusting)
Overview
This WYSIWYG Tangerine Juice Leptoseris showcases a rich golden-orange coloration with fine skeletal ridges and soft polyp texture. When viewed under actinic or full-spectrum reef lighting, the coral radiates a warm, citrusy glow with subtle shimmer across the surface β living up to its "juice" namesake.
This frag is well-encrusted, showing healthy polyp structure and active edge growth. Itβs an ideal choice for reefers looking to add contrast and color to shaded or low-light sections of the tank without overwhelming nearby corals.
Care Requirements
Lighting:
Low to moderate (PAR 75β150). Best placed in shaded areas or lower zones to maintain color intensity. High light may dull coloration or cause bleaching.
Water Flow:
Low to moderate, indirect flow. Helps keep the coral clean while supporting polyp respiration and health.
Placement:
Mount on rock ledges, vertical walls, or low in the aquascape. Provide space from other encrusting corals to prevent crowding.
Feeding:
Photosynthetic. Does not require feeding but may benefit from occasional dosing of micro plankton or amino acids.
Aggression Level:
Low. Generally peaceful, but may slowly overgrow neighboring frags if placed too closely.
Growth Rate:
Moderate. Will spread across rock surfaces with consistent lighting and water quality.
Difficulty:
Moderate. More tolerant than many encrusting SPS but still requires stable alkalinity, calcium, and moderate nutrients to thrive.
Additional Notes
Leptoseris corals like this one are prized for their color under both actinic and daylight spectrum lighting. Their compact, ridged surface structure adds depth to reef scapes, and their low light requirement makes them excellent candidates for shaded corners or vertical overhangs.
This frag is showing excellent health, clean tissue, and active encrustation β ready for long-term placement in a mature system.
